The Ultimate Goal of Bible Teaching

Share:

This site is the teaching division of Ministry Tools Resource Center. Providing training for Bible teachers has been a priority from the start. You will find a section on the MinTools.com site devoted to teaching ministry. An example of choosing a teaching method is provided. And, you can read a Be-Attitudes for Teachers. And, there’s a Bible teaching ministry resources page to gain additional help.

The TrainBibleTeachers.com site’s intent is to provide even more training which can be found by following links on the training resources pages. Yet, teachers need more than training in teaching theory and technique. They need to understand what is the ultimate goal of Bible teaching — helping students know God, not just know about Him.

How high of a priority is this teaching goal?

The Apostle Paul said, “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him …” (Phil. 3:8-9)

If training on teaching methodology is about helping teachers creatively present Bible content about God, you haven’t gotten them to what’s at the core of Bible teaching.

If training on classroom management, or discipline, is merely about crowd control so they can teach students about God, you haven’t gotten them to the real essence of Bible teaching.

Yes, teachers must teach about God so students understand who He is and what He is able to do. But, more important is that everything teachers do in and out of the classroom to prepare and present the lesson, works toward the ultimate goal of helping students know God personally, not merely know about Him.
