Scripture Verses for Bible Teachers

Bible Teaching Demands AccuracyDo your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (2 Tim. 2:15)

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction. (2 Tim. 4:2)

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, (1 Pet. 3:15)

You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. (Titus 2:1)

Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 5:19)

Bible Teachers Must Stay True to God’s Word, Accurately Presenting it

  1. Your approach to studying and interpreting the Bible matters. You need sound hermeneutics. Below are some books in our affiliate store that could help Bible teachers personally and in turn, their teaching.

  1. Your accountability is for what comes out of your mouth. Bible teachers can’t blame the curriculum. They must be able to catch inaccuracies in the lesson and know what to do about it.
  1. Your awareness of how students receive the lesson is important. Bible teachers need to be clear in their presentation. We have an example of this going back to the time of Nehemiah — “They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.” (Neh. 8:8) First and foremost is our responsibility to God to accurately handle His Word but then also to people so they don’t leave with misconceptions.
