Bible Verses Providing an Objective for Bible Teaching

Bible TeachingSo Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:11-13)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

Therefore go and make disciples … teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matt. 28:19-20)

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. (2 Tim. 2:2)

Bible Teaching is Part of the Disciple-Making Process

Did you notice God’s desires for His people in the above verses?

  1. He wants them to be thoroughly equipped so they can live in unity, become mature and Christ-like.
  2. He wants them to become fully devoted to Him which will be evidenced through service and obedience to His commands.
  3. He wants them to take what they have learned and teach others.

Did you notice the role of God’s Word in the fulfillment of His objective?

  1. The Bible is more than a mere textbook from which we impart knowledge.
  2. The Bible is God’s power source for equipping His people.

Think of the implications for the way lessons are prepared and presented.

  1. I was teaching a lesson on Spirituality, when a statement was made about a test for your spiritual gift was mentioned. So I googled it and looked at several sites. I was led to your site and I took the test before allowing my students to take it. I shared my results with a student along with the definitions for each Biblical item listed. I will allow my students to take the test following Thursday’s lesson. I will read your linked material and with your permission, use what I find as I’m led. May God continue blessing you beyond your thoughts and prayers.

    • Praise God you found your way to the MinTools.com site to the spiritual gifts test. Helping students identify their spiritual gifts certainly is a part of the disciple-making process. I pray the material is useful to the building up of your class.

  2. I must first of all be grateful to God you guys. I am so touched and blessed when going through your materials. They are so helpful to me. May God bless you beyond measure. Please can you help me with materials relating to biblical understanding in the New Testerment Survey? Thanks.
