Young adults, including the college and career age, face many life-changing decisions — schooling, career, marriage, starting a family, etc. As they navigate through life, they need to see the practical side of a walk with God. This is a time when they will be developing personal convictions and values. Bible teachers have the wonderful opportunity of helping them understand how God fits in their lives.
God’s Place in their lives.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Prov. 1:7)
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Prov. 9:10)
God’s Presence in their lives.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. (Josh. 1:9)
God’s Purposes in their lives.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jer. 29:11-13)
Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. (Prov. 16:3)
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. (Prov. 19:21)
God’s Peace for their lives.
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (Jn. 16:33)
These would be good verses for young adults to memorize. Since this is also a time wherein they are looking for community with whom to share their journey, encourage them to learn Scripture together as a class, with a friend, or as a family.
