Games are good because they are an enjoyable way to learn, especially for children. Games can, however, lend themselves to situations that foster attitudes and actions contrary to God’s ways.
When Games are No Longer Good
Games are no longer good as Bible learning activity when they contradict the big picture truths we’re trying to communicate like how God designed the Body of Christ to relate with one another.
Games are no longer good when they become counterproductive. We need to think through how we are using games. We must always seek to model truth through our own lives in and out of the classroom and through any kind of lesson activities.
Games Can Be a Good Method for Bible Classes as Long as We Work Through Possible Issues
Rather than eliminate games from the agenda, work through these issues:
- What might foster ungodly attitudes and actions within this game?
- How can the game be modified to remove or significantly minimize negative aspects?
- If the game cannot be appropriately modified, is there a different learning activity that can be used?
