Sometimes students are hurting or grieving, perhaps depressed or even suicidal. Do your teachers know how to help students in crisis?
Sometimes students haven’t personally experienced loss or disaster but they still feel its effects. Crisis Strikes. People don’t have to personally experience it to feel it. Do your teachers know how to help students who are anxious and stressed because of what is happening in the world around them?
Helping students in crisis usually takes more than tacking a sharing time onto the lesson. Sometimes it requires one-on-one with students. And, teachers need to know where to go with what they hear.
- Do your teachers know how to help students turn all their anxieties over to the Lord, helping students find peace?
- Do your teachers extend hope as it is found in Christ now and for the future, helping students find perspective?
- Do your teachers understand how important it is to pray for and with their students, helping students find power?
- Do your teachers realize when it is time for intervention or referral, helping students find practical assistance?
Effective teachers do more than teach lessons. They invest into the lives of students because they truly care. They are there for them in both the good times and bad.
