God’s Word clearly states why the Holy Spirit’s work is so important in the life of believers. Look up the following Bible verses and think about the difference it makes for Bible teachers to be walking in the Spirit.

  • divinely empowered to teach versus merely teaching according to natural abilities or training (1 Cor. 12:7-11)
  • motivated by and operating out of Christ-like qualities versus mere personality traits (Gal. 5:19-25)
  • godly responses to problems versus mere fleshly reactions (Gal. 5:14-17)
  • internal conviction within students to believe and obey God’s Word versus teachers pushing and pulling into mere external conformity (Jn. 16:7-8; 1 Cor. 2:13-14)

If you take time to think through the difference it would make if teachers walk in the Spirit, it should make a difference in your teacher training efforts. You will not settle for training teachers in ways that merely enhance humanistic approaches when reliance on the Holy Spirit – the supernatural – will take Bible teaching so far beyond what we could ever do in our own strength.
