Bible teachers, how much time and effort do you put into lesson preparation? Do you have a good understanding of why you need to adequately invest into this preparation?
Why Adequate Bible Lesson Preparation is Important
Here are three reasons to spend adequate time in preparing a lesson:
- God’s servants are commanded to do their best … it’s an obedience issue.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Tim. 2:15)
- God’s Word is the teacher’s source of authority and power tool for changed lives … it’s a matter of commonsense in light of what you are teaching.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
- God’s expectations are great for teachers … it’s about being accountable with what God has entrusted you.
“Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” (James 3:1)
