A new recruit to teaching in your church or ministry may be someone who previously taught but not in your setting or possibly a person who never taught a Bible class. Both kinds of new teachers need pre-service training.<\/p>\n

All Teachers Need Training Prior to Teaching Regardless of Previous Experience<\/h2>\n

All teachers who have never taught in your church’s educational ministry or small groups should receive some pre-service training regardless of their teaching experience.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. All need to know your overall objective.<\/li>\n
  2. All need to become familiar with your curriculum.<\/li>\n
  3. All need to understand your ministry philosophy.<\/li>\n
  4. All need to learn processes unique to your ministry (i.e., room use, requisition for supplies, expectations, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Additional Pre-Service Training for New Teachers Who Have Never Taught the Bible<\/h2>\n

    Teachers who have never taught the Bible in any setting need particular attention and support.\u00a0 This experience could either fuel their passion for teaching or derail them.\u00a0 Increase the potential for\u00a0success by providing pre-service training as well as continued in-service training.\u00a0 In addition to the above points of training:<\/p>\n

    1. They need to understand the uniqueness and power of the Text they teach to change lives.<\/li>\n
    2. They need to learn how to effectively prepare a lesson.<\/li>\n
    3. They need to be aware of how their life teaches, not just their words.<\/li>\n
    4. They need to be familiar with age level characteristics of the age they will teach.<\/li>\n
    5. They need to learn how God made people to learn and teach accordingly.<\/li>\n
    6. They need to understand the role of prayer and the Holy Spirit in their teaching.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
