\"LessonIn a previous post, we looked at how teachers’ adherence to three basic tenets about the Bible<\/a> will tend to make a difference in how adequately they prepare Bible lessons. Unfortunately, I know of teachers who would claim to truly believe God’s Word is inspired, authoritative, and life-changing but still inadequately prepare their lessons. Either their view of the Bible is more cognitive than heart-felt or they struggle with lordship issues.<\/p>\n

In essence, they are saying:<\/p>\n

1) I am the exception.<\/p>\n

“It just isn’t who I am. It doesn’t fit my personality.”<\/p>\n

2) I am exempt.<\/p>\n

“It just isn’t realistic for me. It doesn’t fit my schedule.”<\/p>\n

Adequate Lesson Preparation When God is Lord of Our Lives<\/h2>\n

If the one True, Almighty God is the source, standard, and power behind the Bible, then the only thing to do is line up with His Word in the way we prepare to teach His Word. Who are we to claim to be the exception or to be exempt from what God has instructed when He said, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15)?<\/p>\n
