We previously noted that Bible teachers are at different places in their skill levels and teaching experience, having different needs<\/a> that should affect the type of teacher training you provide. However, there are still training needs that are the same, that all teachers should work on, regardless of how long they’ve been teaching or who they teach.<\/p>\n

The Need for Empowerment<\/strong><\/p>\n

No matter how long someone has taught or how much previous training they have had, they need to be serving though the power God provides, not according to their natural abilities. They are not teaching just any textbook but rather the inspired Word of the Almighty God. Spiritual words must be spiritually discerned. All teachers need the Holy Spirit working in and through them. The Need for Effectiveness<\/strong><\/p>\n

Effective Bible teaching goes beyond a teacher’s skill set (what they do) to who they are — “being” the kind of teacher who makes a difference. All teachers need to focus on their own heart so they exhibit traits that back up the words they speak. Resource: Be-Attitudes for Teachers<\/a><\/p>\n

To be an effective Bible teacher also requires the accomplishment of God’s goals. His objective goes beyond the impartation of head knowledge to changed lives. All teachers need to teach in ways that help students apply truth to life. Resource: Teaching for Changed Lives Workbook<\/a><\/p>\n

The Need for Encouragement<\/strong><\/p>\n

While some teachers may be more insecure, frustrated, or weary than others, all need to be encouraged along the way. Even those who seem to have it all together, sometimes need encouraging reminders pointing them to their Source of help and hope in difficult situations.
