Just consider the popularity of sites like Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. Many people tend to prefer pictures, infographics, and videos over text.<br \/>\n<script async defer src=\"\/\/assets.pinterest.com\/js\/pinit.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center; padding-bottom: 20px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/mintools\/walk-with-god-life-in-christ\/\" data-pin-do=\"embedBoard\" data-pin-board-width=\"400\" data-pin-scale-height=\"280\" data-pin-scale-width=\"80\">|<\/a><\/div>\n<p>We also live in a society where people engage through screens of various sizes &#8212; smartphones, tablets, laptops, PC monitors, etc. This is the only kind of life many of the younger generation have known.<\/p>\n<p>But really, the need to teach visually isn&#8217;t anything new. <a href=\"https:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/god-made-us-that-way.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">God made us to learn\u00a0with our senses<\/a>. Using audiovisuals has always been a good idea. It&#8217;s also<a href=\"https:\/\/mintools.com\/blog\/audiovisuals.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> the way God has communicated with people<\/a>. Bible teachers need to get on page with God, not society.<\/p>\n<h2>Tips for Bible Teachers to Teach in a Visual Society<\/h2>\n<p>1) Do visualize the content where you can yet do so purposefully.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The objective isn&#8217;t merely to appeal to people&#8217;s senses or to entertain but to engage people in the learning process. It would be better not to use a visual or video than to use one that&#8217;s inappropriate or misrepresents.<\/p>\n<p>2) Don&#8217;t limit yourself to any one medium.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Think in terms of pictures, videos, and objects. A visual image can be used to represent a truth that will help with recall later through the week when they see that image or picture of the image.<\/p>\n<p>3) Do use both on screen and off screen pictures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Just because people use screens a lot doesn&#8217;t mean it is the only way you should teach. A low tech approach, done well, can sometimes communicate just as well.<\/p>\n<p>4) Don&#8217;t get discouraged if you cannot use screens in your setting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Changed lives result from the work of God in people&#8217;s hearts not our methodology. With that said, we still should do whatever we do well. Visuals should never be a substitute for the Word &#8212; &#8220;faith comes from hearing the message&#8221; (Rom. 10:17). Also remember that the Word became flesh and dwelt among people (Jn. 1).
