Young Adults Have Many DecisionsYoung adults, including the college and career age, face many life-changing decisions — schooling, career, marriage, starting a family, etc. As they navigate through life, they need to see the practical side of a walk with God. This is a time when they will be developing personal convictions and values. Bible teachers have the wonderful opportunity of helping them understand how God fits in their lives, even suggesting helpful verses for them to memorize so they can recall them as needed.

Help for Teachers to Implement Scripture Memory with Young Adults

You’ll find some verses related to God’s place, purpose, and presence in our lives on the page for young adults in the Scripture Memorization Discipleship Guide. This resource also looks at other ages and explores the benefits and means of memorizing God’s Word, as well as some tips.

Young adults may have developed some negative attitudes toward Scripture memory along the way, so you may benefit from this teacher training resource to help get beyond those attitudes through the way you implement memorizing God’s Word: Effective Scripture Memorization

Jesus Invested Heavily into Adult Ministry

Jesus Primarily Had an Adult Ministry

Did you ever notice how heavily Jesus invested into adult ministry?  Ever wonder why He didn’t emphasize children and youth more?  We know Jesus loved and valued children (Mk. 10:13-16) but we do not read of a concerted effort to teach or disciple them like He did with adults.

Perhaps it had to do with the culture of that day but maybe it also was because He viewed parents as the primary disciplers of their children (Deut. 6:4-9; Eph. 6:4).  Even adults who never have had children themselves should be role models for the younger generations (Matt. 18:5-6).  Regardless of the reason, we can know that adult ministry is important if we follow Jesus’ precedence.

Why We Don’t Invest as Heavily into Adult Ministry

The question is why we don’t invest as much, or more, into our adult ministries as we do children and youth ministry.  Possibly it is because of . . .

1)  The myth that adults already have a good understanding of the Bible.

The reality is that many adults are illiterate when it comes to the Bible.  Some adults sitting in your classes outwardly appear to have it together but inwardly struggle to apply what they do know in every day living.  And, some you think are Christians may not have truly put their trust in Jesus Christ. The Some Outreach Do’s & Don’ts in the Adult Classroom Worksheet, available through the MinTools.com store, provides some outreach tips for the adult classroom.

2)  The thinking that children are more pliable.

By the time a person is an adult, they have built walls around them.  If that is the case then help your teachers of adult classes learn how to break down those walls.  A training session with PowerPoint slides called Breaking Walls Down Training Session for Teachers of Adults, available through the MinTools.com store, will help with that.
