3 Promises from God Bible Teachers Need to Share

Share:

God’s Word is filled with promises. Because these promises are wrapped up in His character, we can count on Him to fulfill them. Here’s why: “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Num. 23:19)

God intends for His promises to encourage us and spur us on to live in the fullness of life in Him. — “… he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature …” (2 Pet. 1:4).

3 Encompassing Promises from God We Need to Share

Here are three of the many, many promises in Scripture under which many of the other promises could be placed. If you want your students to rise above the difficulties in life, use these promises to encourage them in whatever they may be experiencing.
Promises from God

  1. His presence (Josh. 1:9; Matt. 28:20; Heb. 13:5)

Wrapped up in His presence we find God’s power and peace giving us courage, confidence, and contentment so we can say, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” (Ps. 23:4).

  1. His provision (Matt. 6:33; Rom. 8:32; 2 Cor. 9:8; 12:9; Eph. 1:3; Phil. 4:19; 2 Pet. 1:3)

Wrapped up in His provision we find God’s grace providing for our eternal salvation and all we need for life here and now as His “grace is sufficient” (2 Cor. 12:9).

  1. His protection (Jn. 10:28-30; Rom. 8:31-39; Phil. 1:6; 1 Thess. 5:23-24; 2 Thess. 3:3)

Wrapped up in His protection we find God’s faithfulness toward us which brings reassurance and rest as nothing can separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:31-39).

How Bible Teachers can Share these Promises:

If teaching in a classroom or small group setting digitally or in-person, help students see the faithfulness, power, and grace of God whether it be through Bible stories being taught or doctrine.

Only a gracious God will make promises we don’t deserve. Only a faithful God can be counted on to keep those promises. And, only an all-powerful God is capable of always fulfilling His promises.

If seeking to provide hope and encouragement through the above promises, teachers may find students unmoved if they haven’t grasped the faithfulness, power, and grace of God. We need grounds to believe that God will be true to His word. His character provides the foundation needed so teachers must be sure to present God in the fullness of who He is.

If not formally teaching in a classroom setting, you can still teach these truths through a variety of means.

  • Incorporate these promises into e-mails, texts, social media posts, etc., sometimes stating the promise, sometimes typing out a Bible verse, and sometimes providing both a statement and a verse.
  • Send a series of three postcards or note cards through the postal service, maybe one a week, each containing one of the above promises.
  • Copy the image in this post into an e-mail and send it to your students with a personal note from you about it. (You have permission to use the above image in that way.)
