Bible teachers find help in sharing God’s plan of salvation by using a tool like the Romans Road Signs. Using just verses from the book of Romans, teachers follow the signs to help students understand some of the key points leading to a person’s salvation.
First we need to stop long enough to see our need for a Savior.
STOP Sign: Stop and understand your fallen sinful condition.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23)
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. (Ps. 51:5)
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one (Rom. 3:10)
Challenges in Teaching About Sin:
We live in a world where morality is more and more being determined by one’s own experience and opinions or feelings, not God and His Word. Consequently, if I am my own standard in determining what is right from wrong, then what does it matter? Especially if teaching people who did not grown up in the church, this could present a challenge for you.
Teachers first need to establish that there is a perfect God, greater than anyone now or ever living, who is so much higher in His ways, that He not only can be but should be the standard of morality. His character defines right from wrong. Sinning against God’s holy character leads to consequences.
