Guided Conversation is a useful teaching tool throughout the year but opportunities especially present themselves during the holiday seasons to point students to God in the course of normal talking about the holidays.
The holiday window from the end of October through April is especially full of possibilities.
While these suggestions might seem obvious, the question to ask is if teachers are taking advantage of these opportunities to turn them into teachable moments and not just conversation about upcoming holiday activities.
- Halloween – God’s triumph in good versus evil — God is greater
- Thanksgiving – God’s blessings and gratitude to God — God is good
- Christmas – God’s plan of salvation — Jesus came to save us
- New Year’s Day – God’s hope for new beginnings — Jesus makes all things new
- Valentine’s Day – God’s love for all mankind — God cares for you
- Easter – God’s power to triumph over death and sin — Jesus is alive
Don’t wait for the holidays to train teachers in the use of Guided Conversation:
