Objective: Help Students Learn Giving from the Heart

Share:

Heart attitude is so important in all we do as believers.  Disciple-making Bible teachers must therefore not only teach what God’s Word says and encourage obedience to His commands but also proper motivations and attitudes.  God isn’t looking for robots simply acting on command.  He wants people to respond out of desire, gratitude, and most importantly, love.

Faithful & Cheerful GiversThe stewardship of giving is a good area to show this combination of the right actions and the right attitudes.  Notice Paul’s words to the Corinthians:

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Cor. 9:7)

Teach Giving from the Heart, Done Faithfully and Cheerfully

Promote this kind of focus in your teaching so putting money in the offering plate isn’t just about doing one’s duty.

  • Teach lessons about what the Bible says about stewardship but also motivations and attitudes in giving.
  • Provide opportunities to give but also time for students to examine their hearts about it.
  • Model not just the act of giving but also the excitement of being able to give.
