Teaching Believers to Reach Out

Teaching to Reach Out as His AmbassadorsThe Christian life is meant to be shared. Not only are we to be salt and light in this world but we’re to be God’s ambassadors, witnesses, and proclaimers of the Good News. Yet many Christians, probably even many sitting in our Bible classes, don’t reach out. What will it take for believers to engage in outreach, to reach out with the Gospel message?

Help Students Get Beyond Duty to Wanting to Reach Out

Yes, we are commanded to be witnesses (Acts 1:8). Jesus commissioned His followers to “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19-20). While obedience to our gracious and merciful Lord should be enough to get believers involved in outreach, we still find many without a bent toward reaching out. That suggests that we need to get beyond the commands to a better understanding of the mindset and heart that will propel believers to reach out more.

You’ll find an acrostic of the word ‘outreach’ in the Sowing Good into Our Lives resource which teachers can use with students as a discipleship tool. It suggests the mindset and heart believers need in order to develop a bent toward outreach.
