Attending a training session or reading good material can be helpful but seeing it in action takes training to another level. Some people are visual learners and so seeing a demonstration will be much more impacting.
What Observing Another Teacher Provides
- new or fresh ideas for teaching methodology, classroom management, etc.
- visual demonstration of skills they have been learning about
- a point of comparison to analyze different areas of weakness and strength in themselves
- a different view of students as they are able to sit back and see class from their perspective
The Teacher Training Module included in the Christian Education Files resource gives some tips for how to optimize this type of training as well as some suggestions for a checklist you can provide of what teachers should look for as they observe. In addition, this resource looks at 22 other means of training Bible teachers. (The Teacher Training Module can be purchased separately.)
