It’s hard to imagine fishermen going on an expedition with their nets laying in a jumbled mess from their last trip. They wouldn’t know if any nets needed repair or reinforcement. Further, the nets wouldn’t be ready for immediate use when the time came to throw them into the water. Much effort would first have to be spent untangling the nets and getting them prepared and properly arranged, time that could have been spent fishing.
As Equippers, Bible Teachers Similarly are Involved in Readying Students for Life and Service
Bible teachers who view their role as equippers will make a purposeful effort to ready their students to do what God intends for them to do. They will want to help students make sense of what they’ve learned so they see God’s big picture and develop a biblical perspective and worldview to prepare them to live accordingly.
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. (1 Pet. 3:15-16)
