Bible teachers could probably list lots of reasons they could get discouraged — trying to add lesson preparation into their busy lifestyles, discipline issues, lack of resources, feelings of inadequacy, etc. Yet, God’s Word exhorts us to always rejoice.
We’ve been using the first letter of every month to remind us of something for which we can pray for our Bible teachers. I knew one of the J’s had to be Joy. Let’s pray teachers know the joy of teaching, even when things don’t seem to be going well.
Example of How to Pray for Bible Teachers During the Month of June: Joy
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (Phil. 4:4)
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 Jn. 1:4)
- Ask God to help Bible teachers experience and maintain joy in their teaching as they keep their focus on the Lord and His life-changing Word.
- Pray that teachers’ joy isn’t based on a good attendance or everything going perfect but in the privilege of knowing and passing on God’s Word to others.
- Pray that their joy in knowing God and His Word acts as a contagion for their students.
The Praying for Bible Teachers Throughout the Year Guide includes the above prayer requests plus others related to Joy in teaching. Though this is the sixth month into the year, it isn’t too late to order this downloadable resource as the guides aren’t dated. You can begin any time of the year.
