Praying for Bible Teachers

We’ve already suggested that we shouldn’t underestimate prayer support when it comes to teacher training. Think of the impact of having a prayer support team specifically for teachers! Also, what an encouragement it would be for teachers to know they are being prayed for throughout the year.

Guide People in Praying for Bible Teachers Throughout the Year

People on the support team will be more likely to keep at it if you guide the process by giving suggestions on how to pray. Here are some ideas:

When I served as Director of Christian Education in a church, every month I would make up a prayer list to distribute to a prayer support team. In it I highlighted prayer requests for teachers based on individual teacher needs, age level departments, and the teaching ministry as a whole. It also included requests from people who attended so the team could pray specifically for students as well. To do that I contacted a family or two each month, asking how they would like us to pray for them, stressing the confidentiality of the prayer list with both them and the support team. While making up the prayer list did take time, it served a dual purpose in keeping me more in touch with the needs of the people I served as well as providing a more personal approach for the prayer support team.

Another idea is to zero in on something specific for the whole month, each month of the year. A tool like the Praying for Bible Teachers Throughout the Year Guide could save you time developing something yourself. It includes a page for each month of the year with a different topic for each month beginning with the same letter of the month to make it easy to recall that month’s prayer theme. It includes some relevant Scripture for that month which could be incorporated into praying as well as suggestions for how to pray about that topic. The guide can be distributed to individuals who commit to praying for your Bible teachers. Or, if you have a monthly prayer meeting, you could use that month’s list as a guide in praying for teachers.

The first post of every month of the upcoming year will include content for that month from the above mentioned resource. You may gladly pass on the links of those posts to your prayer support team or teachers. Ordering the resource, however, will enable you to have all months in advance with permission to print and distribute it to your team in full or monthly. Also, the posts will include only a few of the prayer suggestions whereas the guide provides something for every day of the month.
