Perhaps you are in a teacher training rut, offering the same kind of training over and over again. Perhaps people found it interesting the first time or two but now they know what to expect and therefore find it boring.
Maybe you do vary your approach but still struggle to get teachers to take away something that impacts their teaching. Because they aren’t finding it useful, they are still bored and would rather not be there.
The Reality about Boring Teacher Training:
Being stuck in a rut can sometimes do more harm than good to your teacher training efforts. Good content can be lost in a poor or overused presentation. But, even good content presented in good ways can miss the mark if it isn’t relevant.
Remedy for Boring Teacher Training:
If people are bored because of the way you are presenting the training, get more creative. Vary the approach. Offer teacher training in different formats. When possible, provide training in ways that match teachers’ learning styles or preferences.
Also tailor the content to meet the needs of your teachers so the training is useful to them. What issues are your teachers dealing with? What characteristics do they need to know about the age they teach? What teaching skills can use improvement?
