So often teachers have questions about specific discipline issues.  It is important to provide help with these particular problems. If, however, all we do is provide training on specific issues or discipline techniques, we may be helping our teachers to simply apply bandages rather than develop a big picture perspective on discipline.

Look at Specific Classroom Discipline Issues Through the Perspective of the Big Picture

Without a big picture perspective, teachers might find themselves . . .

  1. Flustered when they run into an issue for which they don’t know what to do or on which their techniques don’t seem to work.
  2. Always running from crisis to crisis because they aren’t doing enough to prevent problems.
  3. Seeing discipline as mere crowd control rather that an extension of the teaching process, a means for discipleship.
