The Master Teacher as a Model

Jesus as the Master Teacher, a Model
Jesus, our Lord and Teacher, came to serve rather than be served (Mk. 10:45). The Master Teacher demonstrated taking on the role of a servant. He then said, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” Hence, we learn from the Master Teacher not only to be a servant but also a model.

Jesus, the Master Teacher, Taught by Example

In demonstrating how to be a servant by washing His disciples’ feet, Jesus modeled what He wanted the disciples to do. His life backed up His instruction, giving what He said even more credence and impact.

Implication: Examine your own life. Can you ask students to follow your example? You can when it’s about how you “follow the example of Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1).

The Master Teacher went beyond what people should know to what they should do. He said, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you” (Jn. 13:15). Showing the disciples an example of what it means to be a servant, which He also did on other occasions, increased the potential of them taking a Christ-like approach to ministry.

Implication: Make application of truth your objective, reinforcing what students should do by your own actions as a Christ-like example.
